The short version: History Hero runs entirely in your browser. Your progress is saved locally. We collect anonymous usage stats to improve the game.

No Account Required

History Hero works entirely without an account.

Browser-Only Storage

Your level progress, hints used, and game state are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

Clearing your browser data will reset your progress.

Local Storage

Some data is stored locally in your browser and never sent to our servers. localStorage persists across reloads and tabs until you clear it:

progress - Completed levels and current level
hints - Hints used per level
settings - Sound and display preferences

You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for tracking. We use localStorage to save preferences and sessionStorage during the sign-in process.

Analytics

We use our own privacy-focused analytics (Lotl Observe) to collect minimal anonymous usage data:

Page views - Which pages are visited (no personal data)
Anonymous identifiers - A random visitor ID to count unique visitors (not linked to your identity)
Error reports - Technical errors for debugging (no personal data)

We do not use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics.

Third Parties

We do not sell or share your data with third parties. See the Lotlsoft Privacy Policy for details about infrastructure.

Your Rights

You can:

Access your data (view within the app or export from account settings)
Correct your data (update profile in account settings)
Delete your data (from within the app)
Withdraw consent (sign out and stop using the service)
